How do you announce your move into a new market when nobody has ever heard of you?

Overview
When scuba retailer Divers Direct wanted to grow and move into the much larger watersports market, they needed to find a way to make that announcement known to both their current customer base as well as an entirely different customer base that had no familiarity with them.

Solution
To address this, Divers Direct became a sponsor of the ‘The Outdoor Channel’ television show, “Facing Waves”. “Facing Waves” is a travel and sports show that follows paddlers to different destinations around the world. With millions of viewers this was a great opportunity. This sponsorship put Divers Direct as a key retailer with ample product placement in all the episodes as well as key advertising opportunities.

To leverage the opportunity, we scripted, shot, and cut a 30 second commercial that ran prominently on the show. It highlighted the show host, the locations, and quality product that “Divers Direct” had to offer. In addition, it made clear that Divers Direct, was also for Paddlers, Snorkelers, Spearos, and more!
